VideoBot: The 2011 Bootstrap Awards
Ottawa’s famous Bootstrap Awards were back bigger than ever this year with over 60 companies entered to win one of the 10 Bootstrap Awards.
I was honoured to be one of the judges this year, and it was definitely a tough competition that was a great showcase for some of Ottawa’s youngest bootstrapped companies as well as some that have been in the trenches for the past few years. Award categories include Best Micro Business, Best Guerilla Marketing/Social Marketing, Most Innovative Social Enterprise and Fastest Growing Startup. We were thrilled when Bruce Firestone, the notorious entrepreneur behind the awards themselves as well as the founder of the Ottawa Senators and Exploriem.org, invited EventBots to get soundbytes from guests and award winners – capturing the moment forever for YouTube. It’s always exciting to see someone wearing something other than business attire. Kudos to Karl the Gorilla, community ambassador, for making a special appearance with his “handlers” in a video. Congratulations to everyone who participated this year, and who continue to work in their 24/7 jobs as entrepreneurs!
