EventBots Named Startup to Watch in 2010

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down to brunch with Krystle Chow – Ottawa tech reporter extraordinaire – to talk about EventBots: where we came from and where we’re headed.  It was fun being on the other side of the interview for once, since I spend most of my time asking other people questions at the EventBot. Too bad I haven’t yet figured out how to conduct EventBot interviews over french toast and maple syrup.

One of the things the Ottawa Business Journal was most interested in was the fact that we started out with an idea, built the machines ourselves, and turned them into a thriving business from practically nothing. Taking the time to built it yourself definitely isn’t the easiest path, but it can definitely be rewarding. Looking around at the other companies in the Startups to Watch list, I can’t help but admire how many great ideas get conceived and built right here in Ottawa. Whether it’s a high tech device, a web based application, or a new way of doing things, there are a lot of people with the initiative and creativity to get things done around here, and I’m inspired by them.

It means a lot to us to be featured as part of this OBJ annual feature! Thanks so much to the OBJ team, and to all our early customers who are so creative and who understood our vision immediately, those who were happy to take a chance on a new product from a new business – you are the clients that makes entrepreneurship and new businesses possible.  Congrats to the thousands of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial thinkers creating value in Ottawa right this moment.
